چکیده

Chronic interstitial nephritis in agricultural communities is an emerging public health concern affecting numerous tropical countries, including regions India, with a significant impact on the and well-being of affected individuals. The individuals suffer from various psychosocial, nutritional, metabolic challenges due to organ failure, which affects their quality life. etiology remains poorly understood, risk factors, include environmental occupational hazards, have been implicated its development. recent discovery lysosomal proximal tubulopathy has reignited interest pathogenesis. Tubulointerstitial disease in diabetic nephropathy

Diabetes mellitus is the major cause of end stage renal disease (ESRD). We cannot predict which patient will be affected. ESRD patients suffer an extremely high mortality rate, due to a very high incidence of cardiovascular disease. Several randomized, prospective studies have been conducted to quantify the impact of strict glycemic control on morbidity and mortality, and have consistently demo...

Tubulointerstitial Biomarkers for Diabetic Nephropathy

Patients with diabetic nephropathy have a higher risk of mortality, mostly from cardiovascular complications. Standard biomarkers including serum creatinine, estimated glomerular filtration rate, and albuminuria are imprecise, do not directly measure renal tissue injury, and are relatively insensitive to small changes in renal function. Thus, availability of novel biomarkers that are sensitive,...

The rediscovery of uromodulin (Tamm-Horsfall protein): from tubulointerstitial nephropathy to chronic kidney disease.

Uromodulin (Tamm-Horsfall protein) is the most abundant protein excreted in the urine under physiological conditions. It is exclusively produced in the kidney and secreted into the urine via proteolytic cleavage. Its biological function is still not fully understood. Uromodulin has been linked to water/electrolyte balance and to kidney innate immunity. Also, studies in knockout mice demonstrate...

Chronic Cholestatic Liver Disease With Associated Tubulointerstitial Nephropathy in Early Childhood

We report the clinical and morphological features of an unusual hepatorenal disorder in 2 patients. The main clinical features were early onset of cholestatic liver disease and progressive tubulointerstitial nephritis, leading to renal death in early childhood. Renal histology showed interstitial fibrosis, tubular atrophy and dilatation, glomerular cysts in the cortex and periglomerular fibrosi...
